The simple answer to the question above is you’re doing it because you believe you need to.
I can certainly empathise with you if that was your response. It can be nerve-racking making ends meet and keeping a roof over your head. But I would like to point out that one of the keys to success is following your passion. In whatever little way you can.
I was just reading through one of Joe Vitale’s blog posts, How Rob Thomas Gets Inspired, in which he talks about taking action and following your passion. In the article, he describes how Rob Thomas, of the band Matchbox Twenty, declared himself a rockstar before he was ever recognised publicly as one. Rob’s secret to success is “getting out of f***cking bed and doing it.”
In other words, he is taking action toward his passion. He is doing what he loves even if it entails a lot of work. Another great quote from the same article is that “he doesn’t recall the last time he worked a 40 hour week because he works 18 hour days“.
Like anyone, Rob’s success did not happen overnight. His dream job did not come knocking on his door. He went out there, sought it out, and made it his own. Step by step. Day by day.
What would you really want to be doing with your life? What are you willing to do in order to get there?
Don’t sell yourself short. You can do, be, and have whatever it is you desire. If you take the effort to make it happen.
Chin up.
